Vietnamese EV maker VinFast is set to make a bold entry into the Indian electric vehicle market. After showcasing the VF6 and VF7 SUVs at the Auto Expo 2025 and opening its first showroom, the company will officially announce prices on 6 September 2025. With a local production facility in Tamil Nadu and aggressive dealership expansion plans, VinFast is aiming to become a strong competitor in India’s fast-growing EV segment.
VinFast has already begun building its footprint with plans to set up 35 dealerships by the end of 2025. Indian customers can pre-book the VF6 and VF7 online for ₹21,000, signaling the brand’s strong commitment to Indian buyers looking for sustainable mobility solutions.
Positioned as a midsize SUV, the VF6 is designed for urban buyers seeking affordability, long driving range, and daily practicality. It brings competitive features to challenge India’s popular mid-segment EVs.
The VF7 is the premium sibling of the VF6, aimed at customers who want performance, versatility, and a powerful driving experience. With AWD capability and strong acceleration, it directly targets India’s premium EV SUV market.
Both SUVs are being locally assembled at VinFast’s Thoothukudi plant in Tamil Nadu, which has an initial capacity of 50,000 units annually, scalable to 1.5 lakh units per year. The first car to roll out of this facility was the VinFast VF7, marking the official start of production in India.
Customers can pre-book online for ₹21,000 ahead of the official launch. The highly anticipated price reveal event is scheduled for 6 September 2025, where final prices, variants, and delivery timelines will be shared.
VinFast’s entry into India with the VF6 and VF7 electric SUVs is set to reshape the EV landscape. With competitive pricing, local production, and powerful features, the company is preparing to take on established rivals like Tata, Mahindra, Hyundai, and MG. The official launch in September 2025 will be a milestone moment for India’s EV revolution.
